TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,177.91 down 73.92 points):

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Up six cents, or 1.75 per cent, at $3.49 on 13,171,569 shares.

Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. (TSX:ZL). Semiconductor manufacturer. Down two cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $3.95 on 8,781,464 shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 0.59 per cent, at $25.43 on 8,378,673 shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down six cents, or 1.63 per cent, at $3.62 on 6,985,955 shares.

Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:CLL). Oil and gas. Up 4.5 cents, or 19.15 per cent, at 28 cents on 6,965,222 shares.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Down 15 cents, or 0.52 per cent, at $28.90 on 6,063,959 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,333.34 down 56.05 points):

Canadian Overseas Petroleum Ltd. (TSXV:XOP). Petroleum exploration. Down three cents, or 9.68 per cent, at 28 cents on 5,991,600 shares.

Advitech Inc. (TSXV:AVI). Biotechnology. Up 0.5 cents, or 20 per cent, at three cents on 4,103,000 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Paladin Labs Inc. (TSX:PLB). Pharmaceuticals. Down 12 cents, or 0.33 per cent, at $36.48 on 5,562 shares. The company said it has a strong balance sheet and is looking for other acquisitions after dropping its hostile takeover bid for Afexa Life Sciences Inc. (TSX:FXA), maker of the popular Cold-FX flu remedy.

Jean Coutu Group Inc. (TSX:PJC.A). Drug stores. Down 29 cents, or 2.44 per cent, at $11.60 on 330,322 shares. Company head Francois Coutu said was not concerned that rival pharmacy chain Shoppers Drug Mart has hired a CEO with deep knowledge of the Quebec market. Quebec’s largest pharmacy network said its net profit rose to $66.4 million from $43.4 million a year earlier in the three months ended Aug. 27.

MTY Food Group Inc. (TSX:MTY). Restaurants. Up 14 cents, or 1.02 per cent, at $13.84 on 70,412 shares. The Montreal-based company that operates restaurants under banners including Country Style, Cultures, Yogen Fruz and Au Vieux Duluth, reported third-quarter profits of $4.4 million, up six per cent from a year earlier.
