She is not even old enough to legally drive, but a 15-year-old Abbotsford girl has already been handed a violation ticket and a 24-hour driving prohibition for driving under the influence.
Const. Steve Holmes said an officer observed an Acura travelling at 80 km/h in a 50 zone around 1 a.m. Saturday.
"The vehicle was stopped at Harvey and Richter and the officer found three 15-year-old occupants inside, one of whom was the driver. The officer also detected the smell of liquor coming from the driver and so the officer performed a Roadside Alcohol Screening Device test which resulted in ’warn’ for the driver," said Holmes.
Even though the driver did not have a valid licence, she was given a violation ticket for no driver’s licence, as well as a 24-hour driving prohibition.
"This information will be documented by ICBC for when the unlicenced driver attempts to apply for a driver’s licence in the future," said Holmes. "The Acura was towed away and the driver was handed over to an adult guardian." Top of Page
