SCHMIDT, ABRAM ADOLF: It is with deep sorrow that the family of Abram Schmidt announces his passing on February 16, 2009. He was born in Orloff, Ukraine on May 15, 1927, and at age 81 lost his battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Christel, two daughters Monica Kraft (of Kelowna) and Ingrid Schmidt (of Victoria) and their mother Adele Schmidt, grandsons Kevin and Derek (of Kelowna) and Christel’s family. Known as Abe or Ado to his many friends, he emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1952. He moved from Winnipeg to Kelowna at retirement to enjoy the outdoors, fishing, golfing, gardening, and beekeeping. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
